OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — President Barack Obama is using his traditional post-State of the Union visit -- this time to Nebraska -- to counter Republican campaign claims about the economy and U.S. global standing. Speaking at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Obama said he understands the anxieties that some feel about growing income inequality. He said he wants to enhance education and innovation to help Americans succeed.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Defense Secretary Ash Carter is thanking Secretary of State John Kerry for helping with the quick release by Iran of 10 U.S. sailors and their two small boats. They were released before dawn today after their vessels drifted into Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf yesterday. The Pentagon says one of the boats had mechanical problems. Carter says the U.S. often helps sailors in distress.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A group of news organizations are asking a federal judge to release a list of unindicted co-conspirators in the George Washington Bridge lane closure case. The list had been submitted by prosecutors to defense lawyers and the judge. Aides to Republican Gov. Chris Christie were accused of engineering four days of traffic jams in 2013 at one of the world's busiest bridges by ordering lane closings to punish a mayor who didn't support Christie for re-election.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has picked up a bearded celebrity endorser: "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson. The endorsement came in a video showing Cruz and Robertson in a hunting blind, wearing camouflage and face paint while firing their shotguns. Robertson says Cruz is godly. Cruz defended Robertson in 2014 when he got in trouble for declaring that gays are sinners and that African-Americans were happy under Jim Crow laws.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A specialty car manufacturer is recalling the limousine model involved in a 2013 fire that killed five nurses on a San Francisco Bay Area bridge. Ohio-based Accubuilt is recalling about 1,000 limousines manufactured between Jan. 2, 1998, and July 21, 2005. A rubbing driveshaft may increase the risk of fire.
