NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Jeff Short scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Norfolk State snapped a four-game slide with a 77-56 win over Florida A&M on Saturday night.

Short finished with 6-of-11 shooting from the field including three from distance for the Spartans (6-11, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Conference). D'Shon Taylor added 13 points and 11 rebounds, Charles Oliver had 12 points and Alex Long chipped in 11.

A Preston Bungei dunk broke a 23-23 tie with 1:57 left in the first half and Short hit a layup to give Norfolk State a 27-23 lead at halftime.

Short sank a 3-pointer to cap a 14-7 surge to start the second half and the Spartans led 41-30 with 15:44 to play. They led through the rest of the period and cruised to the win.

Malcolm Bernard led the Rattlers (5-11, 1-2) with 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
