STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — No. 4 Texas never gave Oklahoma State a chance.

Jordan Hosey and Imani Boyette each scored 12 points and Texas jumped out to a big early lead and routed Oklahoma State 78-48 on Saturday night.

Boyette added 11 rebounds, and Empress Davenport and Ariel Atkins each had nine points for the Longhorns (15-0, 4-0 Big 12). They led 25-7 after one quarter and 43-13 at the half.

"I don't even think we looked at the scoreboard, we were just trying to focus on defense," Boyette said. "We just locked down and played great defense, and that was the outcome."

Brittney Martin led Oklahoma State (12-3, 2-2) with 17 points and 13 rebounds. The Cowgirls shot 27.8 percent (15 for 54) from the field.

"Obviously, we ran into a really good basketball team," Oklahoma State coach Jim Littell said. "We're disappointed on our end that we didn't play better and we weren't more competitive. This game got ugly from the get-go. Credit Texas, they have a lot of weapons."

"Personally, I think we played a little bit scared," said Martin, who shot 1 of 9 from the floor in the first half. " I think we let the game get away from us really early and there was no coming back from that."

Texas took a game-high lead of 40 at 67-27 on Boyette's free throw with 7:37 remaining

"I thought it was our defensive energy and our connectedness," Longhorns coach Karen Aston said. "The way you have to defend Oklahoma State has to do with team defense. I thought our team defense was really good."

The Longhorns jumped out to a fast start, building a 13-2 advantage, while limiting the Cowgirls to just 1-of-10 shooting, including seven straight misses.

Texas had a 14-0 run in a 4:21 span bridging the end of the first quarter into the second, going ahead 34-7 on Brady Sanders' free throw with 6:32 left in the second.

Up to that point in the game, Oklahoma State was shooting 3 for 15 from the floor. It didn't get much better the rest of the quarter, as Oklahoma State ended the first half 4 of 25 (16 percent) after missing eight consecutive shots.

TIP INS

Texas: Hosey became the seventh Longhorn to at least share in the team lead for points in a game this season. Over the last six contests, Texas has had a different player top the scoring each time.

Oklahoma State: The Cowgirls matched a season low, scoring six points in the second quarter. They also had six points in the second quarter of their 52-45 win over then-No. 4 Baylor on Dec. 30 (although they surrendered just two points in that quarter to the Bears).
