NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — A.J. English scored 24 points, Deyshonee Much 21 and Iona defeated Marist 90-80 on Saturday for the Gaels' 26th straight home win.
English made all 10 of his free throws and Much hit five 3-pointers after missing three games with an injury. Taylor Bessick, Ibn Muhammad and Jordan Washington scored 11 points each. Iona shot 51 percent and made 11 3-pionters.
Iona (9-6, 6-0) has won five straight and is the only team unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
Khallid Hart made five of Iona's 11 3-pointers for 23 points and Brian Parker was 9 of 11 for 21 for the Red Foxes (4-10, 1-4). Kristinn Palsson added 12 and Obi Momah 11. Marist's leading rebounder, Eric Truog, sat with an injury.
Iona led the entire second half and was up 14 after an 11-0 run. The lead was seven with 1:13 left before Iona secured the win with seven free throws.
