JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli police say they've shot and killed the Israeli Arab who killed three people in a bar in Tel Aviv last week. A police spokeswoman says the gunman was "found in a building" today -- and that he came out shooting at the Israeli forces before being shot and killed. The gunman was identified earlier as Nashat Milhem, an Arab from northern Israel. He opened fire at a bar on a busy street in Tel Aviv last Friday, killing two people and wounding several others. He later also shot and killed an Arab taxi driver.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The mother of a fugitive teen who used an "affluenza" defense after killing four people in a drunken-driving wreck has made an initial appearance in a Texas courtroom on a charge of hindering the apprehension of a felon. Bond has been set at $1 million for Tonya Couch. Authorities believe Couch and her 18-year-old son, Ethan Couch, fled Texas in November as prosecutors investigated whether the teenager had violated his probation. A video surfaced that appeared to show him at a party where people were drinking. The mother and son were arrested in Mexico late last month. He is still being held there.

MIAMI (AP) — An alleged recruiter for al-Qaida has been sent back home to Kuwait after nearly 14 years in custody at the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The U.S. military says Faez Mohammed Al-Kandari was sent back to Kuwait after a government review board determined it was no longer necessary to continue holding him at Guantanamo. The release reduces the prison population at the base to 104. A profile of the Kuwaiti released by the Pentagon last year said he had "probably" served as Osama bin Laden's spiritual adviser. He denied any links to extremists, and was never charged.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks have been inching upward today, as investors find encouragement in the latest job numbers. Analysts had expected an increase of 200,000 jobs last month, but the actual number was close to 300,000. Stocks aren't making large gains, but the buying is widespread.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The governor of Maine is apologizing for his remark about out-of-state drug dealers impregnating "young white" girls. Republican Paul LePage, who is white, says it was a slip of the tongue, and that he never intended to inject race into the debate over Maine's heroin epidemic. The governor says he meant to say "Maine women." But what he actually said was that out-of-state drug dealers have names like "D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty" and that "half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave."
