Democrat Joel Briscoe of Salt Lake City is a former high school civics teacher and says his proposal will get more young people engaged in politics.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge says it's a stupid idea, but he's agreed to let St. George businessman Jeremy Johnson act as his own attorney as he goes on trial on fraud charges. Johnson is set to go on trial in February on allegations that his company offered bogus government grants online.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Provo police say a 1-year-old girl had a lethal amount of heroin in her system when she died. The Deseret News reports no arrests have been made that police are awaiting final toxicology reports. Drug paraphernalia was found in the house where the girl's parents were staying, but it's unclear who it belonged to.
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — In college basketball, Boise State beat Utah State 76-61 last night night to win its eighth straight game. Jalen Moore scored 18 points for the Aggies, who are now 9-5.
