KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho (AP) — Idaho authorities say they have identified a person of interest in the death of a Spokane woman whose body was found in Lake Coeur d'Alene in November. The Kootenai (KOOT'-nee) County Sheriff says 27-year-old Kimberly Sue Vezina most likely died in Washington before her body was dumped into the lake.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Conservation groups are asking the federal government to continue keeping a close eye on gray wolf populations throughout the northern Rocky Mountains because states are aggressively seeking to kill more wolves. According to the petition filed yesterday, the five groups are seeking an additional five years of monitoring from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Government agencies plan to kill or remove up to 900 wild bison from Yellowstone National Park as part of an ongoing effort to reduce the animals' annual migration into Montana. Park officials have released details of plans for 600 to 900 bison to be killed this winter by hunters or captured and sent to slaughter.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Wild horse advocates have filed a lawsuit challenging a U.S. Bureau of Land Management plan to sterilize a herd of wild horses in southwestern Idaho. The federal lawsuit contends the BLM is violating federal environmental law by failing to analyze consequences of the action.
