SALT LAKE CITY — Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who allegedly strong-armed a clerk and robbed a Salt Lake City laundry business.

The robbery occurred Wednesday, Sept. 23 around 10:30 p.m. at the Century Cleaning Barn at 910 W. North Temple, according to Salt Lake City police. A man entered the business, and while the female clerk was distracted, he grabbed her from behind and threw her to the floor, police said. He then grabbed money from the cash register and fled through the west door.

The clerk told police the man smelled strongly of alcohol and cigarettes.

The robber was described as a dark-skinned adult male around 5 feet 7 inches tall and 190 pounds with a small mustache that was slightly gray. At the time of the robbery, the man was wearing a dark baseball cap, baggy dark-colored jeans, white athletic shoes and a dark hoodie with white lettering spelling "CALI" and "FOR" on the front.

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000. Anonymous tips can also be sent by text to 274637. Texts should start with TIPSLCPD and include case #15-181762.
