SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake Community College is closing its South City campus swimming pool.
SLCC president Cynthia Bioteau says the pool will be shut down when summer term ends Aug. 10.
In an e-mail obtained by The Deseret News, she said the school can't afford the pool's upkeep. It would cost about $170,000 to fully repair old equipment at the pool.
Water fitness classes at the pool have been canceled.
The closure decision is disappointing to a lot of people who use the pool. Lifeguard Nate Ashman says it's a great place to swim.
