CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire teachers have until Sept. 28 to request that a Fish and Game Department volunteer come to their classrooms to give a presentation on wildlife and wetlands.
The Wonders of Wildlife program is geared to grades 3-6.
Volunteer docents teach one of four interactive programs. Presentations include Habits and Habitats; Endangered Species; Pond Ecology and Wetlands.
About 20 trained volunteer WOW docents present more than 100 wildlife programs to students statewide each year. There is no charge for the program.
Program coordinator and wildlife educator Mary Goodyear says the program gives "our future environmental stewards" the opportunity to learn more about the outdoors, wildlife and the natural environment.
