PRICE, Utah (AP) — Carbon County's emergency management director is facing criminal charges over allegations that he misused county money.
Prosecutors have charged 45-year-old Jason Thomas Llewelyn with 20 felony counts connected to unauthorized purchases he made with his county-issued credit card in July. Documents show the purchases total nearly $2,800.
Llewelyn asked for a public defender Wednesday. He appeared in court via video from the Emery County Jail, where he's held on $85,000 bail.
Investigators and prosecutors say they believe Llewelyn made more personal purchases with public money other than just the purchases reported in July.
FBI agents are expected to join county prosecutors in their ongoing investigation into Llewelyn.
Llewelyn is a 10-year veteran of the Carbon County Sheriff's Office and a member of the Helper City Council.
