Keith McCord reportingA heat wave has definitely hit Utah this week. Some say the solution to beating the heat is to turn up the A/C; others wish the A/C in their offices could be turned off!

With temperatures soaring, the air conditioners are humming at home and at work. Walking inside of an air-conditioned building after being outside in mid-90s heat certainly feels good.

In some cases, the temperature swing from outside to inside can be nearly 30 degrees, and if you're constantly going in an out, the heat-to-cool-to-heat is something we get used to.

But what about if you're in the office all day? Does your building seem too cold? How about too warm? Is the person in the cubical next to you wearing a sweater, while you're in short sleeves?

"Every once in a while it's too cold. But lately, it's been just right for me," one woman said.

A man said, "Right now, it's absolutely perfect!"

Another woman said, "I would say, for me, most of the time it's too warm."

We got to wondering how employees rate the comfort level in their workplaces now that summer temps have arrived, so we polled them on KSL.com. The subject certainly hit a "hot spot," with nearly 1,600 responses.

Of those who participated in the poll, 43 percent said the workplace temperature is just right and had no complaints. One-third say it's too chilly where they work.

"We're a little bit off on the air conditioning. Certain sections in our office that are a lot colder than others, and I'm, unfortunately, in that section where it's a lot colder," a woman said.

Roughly one-fourth of the respondents say the A/C could go up a bit higher. Maybe it's a gender thing?

"Way too cold!" one woman told us.

A man told us, "Kinda depends. It's a little hot!"

It's a building manager's nightmare trying to keep everyone happy.

Eyewitness News also received a number of e-mails from people about this. One read: "They should be asking about chapels on Sunday as well because our Relief Society room is like you're trying to preserve them in frozen carbonate."

"Our chapel is like a meat locker in the summertime. It keeps me awake, which I guess is the point!" another wrote.

A third e-mail read: "In my office, the air conditioner runs so much in the summer that all of the women have to wear sweaters, warm slacks and socks (I've been tempted to wear mittens, but I can't type on the computer as well)."
