This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Twenty years ago Kym Buttschardt and her husband, Pete, were one of the first businesses involved with the revitalization of Ogden's Historic 25th Street. Their restaurant, Roosters Brewing Company, quickly became an anchor tenant, a critical part of the restoration and it remains an important part of Ogden's vibrant future. They have 170 employees on board between their properties in Ogden and Layton.
This year Roosters is celebrating their 20th anniversary. Kym says the big celebration will be held in July with monthly specials involving the number. They created a new brew for the occasion, as well as a 20-year commemorative glass to go with the others from past anniversaries. These are popular collector's items, so you don't want to miss out on them.
As Kym says, Roosters has a great family vibe and leads out in their efforts to be good neighbors on Historic 25th Street. It's a supportive business climate where you can borrow a cup of sugar from your business neighbor. Pete remains the rock-solid chef who created all the recipes and menus for Roosters Brewing Company, which include an eclectic mix of flavors, from Roosters Hot Wings to Tuscan Beef Medallions, Chicken Vera Cruz or a selection of pastas. It's now a family operation with all three of their sons involved.
An important partner in their success over the last 20 years is Beehive Cheese. Supporting the local community is still an important focus for Roosters Brewing Company. It's the owners' vision to make a community gathering space first and restaurant second. They recently finished a back-end project to improve their space and will be starting a front-end project shortly, with the goal of opening up more space for private dining.
They also support local nonprofits and school districts throughout the Ogden Valley as well as the outdoor industry Ogden is known for, especially with the Rooster's Biker's Edge Cycling team.
