TOKYO, Jul 9, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito performed in Beethoven's 9th Symphony during a concert at Tokyo's Gakushuin University, Kyodo news service reported Sunday.
The concert, held at the university hall, was performed by an orchestra composed of university alumni. Naruhito played the viola during the concert, which was dedicated to celebrated Japanese conductor Hiroyuki Iwaki.
Iwaki was scheduled to conduct the concert, but passed away from heart failure in June, the news service said.
