WASHINGTON (AP) — The search for a suspect in the killings of a wealthy Washington family and their housekeeper is reaching as far as New York. Police are seeking 34-year-old Daron Dylon Wint on charges of first-degree murder. Investigators believe he may be in Brooklyn.

DETROIT (AP) — The government is acting to take a more active role in the massive recall of cars with potentially explosive Takata air bags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants input on managing the recall as well as installation of replacement air bag inflators.

GOLETA, Calif. (AP) — Cleanup efforts continue along the Santa Barbara, California, coast, where an oil pipeline ruptured. More than 7,700 gallons of oil have been cleared away. That's only a fraction of what escaped from the broken pipeline.

DENVER (AP) — Lawmakers in Colorado have reached a deal to keep construction going on a troubled Veterans Administration hospital outside Denver. The VA was on the verge of running out of money for the project, estimated to be $1 billion over its construction budget.

NEW YORK (AP) — McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook has told a shareholders' meeting in Illinois he's "incredibly proud" of a recent decision to bump pay for some workers. Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters continue to call on McDonald's to pay a $15 wage.
