COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado Springs mom is working with her disabled son's school district this summer to update policies after she mistakenly included his cannabis medicine in his lunch.
KKTV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1ROLE0f ) Jennie Stormes spoke to school board members Thursday, saying her son shouldn't have been suspended because he didn't have the intent to break school rules, and that he missed out on important therapy.
Stormes gives cannabis to Sand Creek High School student Jaxon Stormes to lessen his constant seizures.
District 49 Spokesman Matt Meister says even under the state's new law that allows cannabis to be administered at school, it must be given by nurses.
School board members invited Stormes to help them update policies when the new law takes effect.
