BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Prolonged drought conditions across the West have national wildfire experts expecting a busy and early fire season. According to the latest wildfire report issued by the National Interagency Fire Center, Idaho is slated to experience above-normal wildfire activity in its southwestern and northern regions starting in July. Fire officials expect Idaho's fires to be fed by leftover fuel from last year's mild season.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A 30-year-old western Idaho woman has pleaded guilty to charges that she threw her 8-month-old off a porch, fracturing the baby's skull. The Lewiston Tribune reports that Serenity Danner might be placed in a rehabilitation program in exchange for the plea. Police say the baby is with child protective services.
REXBURG, Idaho (AP) — Four law enforcement officers have been cleared in the fatal shooting of an eastern Idaho man. A Madison County Prosecutor said in a report that 41-year-old Darryl Myler of Driggs fired four times at the officers with a 9mm handgun after robbing a pharmacy. The report says the officers fired 28 rounds in return during the Jan. 24 exchange of gunfire, hitting Myler six times.
PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — The U.S. Ski Team has brought on board Paul Kristofic as the women's head coach after he spent two decades with Alpine Canada. It was a position that was left vacant last season once Alex Hoedlmoser moved over to oversee the men's speed team. Kristofic starts June 1.
