RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno officials are relying on an advertising executive to propose a modern flair for the city's iconic arch.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://on.rgj.com/1Jgr9qC ) that city officials said brand development expert Mark Curtis and the Nevada Museum of Art will work together propose a redesigned arch.

They'll host a one-day, invitation-only brainstorming event for urban designers, architects and landscape artists.

The current arch was installed in 1987 and welcomes visitors to "The Biggest Little City in the World."

Mayor Hillary Schieve (SHEE'-vee) said Tuesday that it's time for a community-wide discussion about the future of the arch as Reno tries to revamp its image. But she said she isn't sure yet if it should be replaced.
