Man dies after fire at northern Idaho retirement center

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A man has died following a fire at a retirement center in northern Idaho.

The Lewiston Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/16TFdpr) that crews responded at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to a fire at the Royal Plaza Retirement Center in Lewiston.

Lewiston Fire Department Battalion Chief Gaylon Waits says the fire was in a garage in one of two duplexes, and smoke spread through one living area.

He says the man was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. His name hasn't been released.

The cause for the fire hasn't been determined, and a damage estimate wasn't available.
