OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Monmouth Park has chosen Frank Mirahmadi as its horse racing announcer.
The New Jersey track announced the hiring Tuesday. It's the third time in as many years the thoroughbred track will have a new race-caller.
Mirahmadi replaces Travis Stone, who left to become the race caller at Churchill Downs.
The 47-year-old Mirahmadi currently is the announcer for Oaklawn Park and Los Alamitos thoroughbreds. He got his start at Hialeah Park in 1996 and has called the races at Louisiana Downs, Turf Paradise and for the past nine years the Northern California Fair Circuit.
The Monmouth Park meet runs May 9-Sept. 27. It features the $1 million Haskell Invitational on Aug. 2.
