SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Gov. Gary Herbert says he's working with state officials and educators to develop a 10-year education plan for Utah.
Herbert said during his annual State of the State address Wednesday night that the plan will help the state target public education dollars toward specific goals.
The Republican governor says the plan will set a goal for Utah to be in the top 10 states around the country when it comes to graduation rates, ACT scores, math and literacy.
He did not indicate when the plan might be revealed.
Herbert also used his speech to speak about the need for more money in public education and to ensure that school boards and administrators have control to use money where they need it most.
