Randall Jeppesen ReportingWalMart has officially submitted papers to build its next store in Saratoga Springs. While many communities have fought to keep out the big box giant, this newly formed city will likely receive the store with open arms.

Behind the Chevron gas station on the corner of Redwood Road and State Road 73 sits the field where Wal-Mart wants to build.

Eagle Mountain resident Julian Keogh couldn’t be happier. She says when she needs to shop, she goes to WalMart. She says this one would be closer; her current drive time to the nearest store in American Fork is about thirty minutes.

Saratoga Springs Mayor Tim Parker says he doesn’t expect to see a lot of opposition because there isn’t a much of a downtown.

“We’re not having a lot of traditional downtown environment threat,” says Parker.

The city says it will require the store to match the city's décor. The full approval process is expected to be complete in the next few weeks.
