EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio has restructed his defensive staff, promoting secondary coach Harlon Barnett and linebackers/special teams coach Mike Tressel to co-defensive coordinators and also making Barnett assistant head coach.

The school announced the moves Saturday.

Barnett and Tressel are filling the position left by former assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, who left the Spartans to become head coach at Pittsburgh. Narduzzi will direct the defense in the Cotton Bowl against Baylor.
