LAS VEGAS (AP) — Travis Souza hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points to lead UC Irvine in a strong second half to get past Bradley 55-47 in the opening round of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic on Sunday.
Bradley led by as many as 14 points in the first half and led 27-22 at the break. UC Irvine opened the second half on a 13-0 run to take a 35-27 lead, and had a 12-point lead with about ten minutes remaining. The Braves pulled within 51-47 with 1:22 left, but the Anteaters made four of six free throws to seal it.
Bradley (4-7) made just 3 of 29 shots from the field in the second half, and finished on 26.8 percent shooting overall. Omari Grier led the Braves with 13 points.
Jaron Martin added 10 points, and Luke Nelson made 6 of 9 free throws for UC Irvine (5-5).
