PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The University of Rhode Island has been awarded three grants totaling more than $400,000 to buy state-of-the-art technology to support teaching and research.
The university announced the three grants from the Champlin Foundations. The money will pay for new teaching and research tools for in-vitro testing of pharmaceuticals, advanced characterization of powders and imaging of nanoscale materials and processes.
URI Foundation President Mike Smith says these projects will help expand opportunities for students and position the university as a leading institution. The Champlin Foundations have donated more than $13 million to the university since 1986.
