GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Alex Stalock stopped 23 shots and Tye McGinn scored midway through the third period to lift the San Jose Sharks to a 3-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes in a preseason game Friday night.

Matt Nieto also scored and Tommy Wingels added an empty-netter for the Sharks (3-2-1), who close out the preseason Saturday night at home against the Los Angeles Kings.

Rob Klinkhammer scored and Mike Smith stopped 31 shots for Arizona (4-2-2) in its final preseason game before opening the season next Thursday at home against Winnipeg.

Nieto scored early in the first period by punching in his rebound as the Sharks dominated, notching 14 of the first 15 shots on goal.

McGinn scored on a wrister from between the circles, giving the Sharks the cushion they needed to absorb Klinkhammer's late goal.
