CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Illinois coach Tim Beckman says every game is a must win but Saturday's contest with Purdue could be more of a must than most.
The Boilermakers (2-3, 0-1 Big Ten) look like one of the more manageable teams left on the schedule for Illinois (3-2, 0-1). Getting to six wins and a potential bowl would be easier after a win over Purdue.
The Illini will welcome quarterback Wes Lunt back after he missed last week's loss to Nebraska with a knee injury. However, Lunt could face a test from Purdue's pass rush. The Boilermakers have 13 sacks so far.
Illinois' defense has given up big yards this season. And Purdue coach Darrell Hazell thinks a struggling Boilermaker offense should be able to run the ball on the Illini.
