CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Jonas Hiller made 28 saves, and the Calgary Flames beat the Colorado Avalanche 2-0 in a preseason game on Tuesday night.
Hiller signed a $9 million, two-year deal over the summer. He is battling Karri Ramo for the starting job after spending the previous seven seasons with Anaheim.
Hiller's best sequence occurred with five minutes to play in the third when he first stopped Andrew Agozzino, and then stuck out his pad to deny Michael Schumacher on the rebound.
Johnny Gaudreau and Lance Bouma scored for Calgary (4-3-0).
Colorado (0-5-1) is still looking for its first preseason win. Reto Berra made 22 saves for the Avalanche.
