LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a resident is dead after a home invasion in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Police say the incident happened a little after 8 p.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Broadmere Street, near Hualapai Way and Charleston Boulevard.
Officers tell KVVU-TV that two suspects tried to break into a home when two residents confronted them. The station reports there was an exchange of gunfire that left one of the residents dead.
Authorities say one person was detained and they were looking for a second person in connection with the shooting.
Police haven't said whether the incident was random or whether the suspects and residents knew each other.
