MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Democratic candidate for Wisconsin governor has fired a consultant she blames for copying several sections of her jobs plan from plans by other Democrats.
Mary Burke's spokesman Joe Zepecki says the campaign wasn't aware of the duplicate material until it was first reported Thursday night by Buzzfeed.
Burke has made jobs and the economy the centerpiece of her argument against Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
Republicans quickly accused Burke of plagiarism. Walker campaign manager Stephan Thompson said she was misleading voters by offering a plagiarized jobs plan.
