WASHINGTON (AP) — Some companies that object to the contraceptive coverage requirement of the new health care law will be exempt from it. The Supreme Court says corporations like Oklahoma-based Hobby Lobby -- which are controlled by just a few people -- don't have to provide the coverage if it violates the religious beliefs of the owners. Nearly 50 businesses have sued over the contraceptive requirement.

DETROIT (AP) — There won't be any limits on the total amount that Kenneth Feinberg can pay to people who were harmed in crashes caused by faulty GM ignition switches. Feinberg is in charge of administering the compensation plan. And he says GM won't have any say in the amounts he can offer people. They could include drivers, passengers and even pedestrians. GM recalled 2.6 million small cars this year, admitting that it knew for years that the ignition switches can unexpectedly shut off the engine and cause drivers to lose control.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is asking Congress for increased powers to send unaccompanied children back from the U.S. border to the Central American countries they're trying to flee. The letter is the administration's latest response to what the White House has called a "humanitarian crisis" on the border. The Border Patrol has apprehended more than 52,000 child immigrants traveling on their own since the start of the 2014 budget year in October.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Republican Congressman Vance McAllister of Louisiana has changed his mind. He says he intends to run for re-election despite the scandal caused by a video showing him kissing a married female aide. In April, he had said he wouldn't seek another term. But he now says he plans to be on the November ballot. The married congressman, who ran on a platform of faith and family, apologized for a "personal failure" after the security tape showed him kissing an aide in his congressional office. She later resigned. GOP leaders have pushed for McAllister to resign, but he has refused.

LONDON (AP) — A jury in London has found entertainer and broadcaster Rolf Harris guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault. The 84-year-old was convicted of assaulting four victims, aged 19 or under, between 1968 and 1986. Prosecutors said Harris got away with brazen sexual assaults on young girls for years, because his fame made him untouchable. The Australian-born Harris was a prominent British broadcaster for decades and once performed with the Beatles. He had a novelty hit with "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport."
