LOS ANGELES (AP) — Boise-based Albertsons will pay $3.3 million to settle allegations that its California stores illegally dumped hazardous waste, including over-the-counter medication, pool chemicals and batteries. Albertsons didn't acknowledge wrongdoing but agreed to reform waste management practices at its 118 California stores.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Starting next Tuesday, speed limits on some portions of interstates in Idaho will go from 75 to 80 mph. State highway officials say Interstates 15, 84 and 86 will have speed limits increased in rural areas. Speed limits in urban areas will mostly remain at 65 mph. Lawmakers approved the increases earlier this year.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Two daredevils hoping to succeed where Evel Knievel failed 40 years ago in jumping a southern Idaho canyon are looking at delays due to television scheduling. The Times-News reports the dates for the Snake River Canyon jumps are being pushed back to late September or October, so both can be broadcast by Fox.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's workforce development training fund is getting a makeover. The Idaho Department of Labor says highly-rated businesses will now receive larger reimbursement amounts. The fund provides grant money to businesses to pay for employee training and is used to attract out-of-state companies.
