WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (AP) — Colorado authorities are searching for a man wanted on a murder charge in Illinois who escaped while being transported from Las Vegas. Police say 37-year-old Turhan Robinson escaped from a private inmate transport service at a truck stop in the Denver suburb of Wheat Ridge early today.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — University of Nevada, Reno says it will preserve two residence halls built in the 1890s. Lincoln and Manzanita halls were slated for demolition because they don't meet modern standards for earthquake safety. Both buildings are part of a campus historic district. University officials say they will find other uses for the buildings.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Electric Daisy Carnival kicks of three nights of electronic dance music at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway tonight. Organizers expect more than 140,000 people to attend, most from outside the Las Vegas area. The event moved from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum amid controversy over the 2010 death of a 15-year-old attendee who was treated for drug intoxication.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas officials are taking steps to clean up the Fremont Street Experience. Starting Sunday, drinking from aluminum cans and bottles will be banned in the area, although drinks poured into cups at casinos and restaurants will still be allowed. Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Sheriff Doug Gillespie recently announced plans to increase the number of police officers on patrol.
