WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals activated left-hander Gio Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and optioned left-hander Xavier Cedeno to Triple-A Syracuse.
Gonzalez, returning from left shoulder inflammation, was set to start Wednesday night against Houston.
In two rehab starts with Class A Potomac, he pitched 7 2-3 innings, allowing nine earned runs on nine hits and eight walks.
With Washington this season, Gonzalez is 3-4 with a 4.62 ERA in nine starts.
Cedeno allowed two hits and no runs in 2 1-3 innings in relief for the Nationals.
