Brad Anderson and Dean Twitchell believe owning a boat is an ideal way for families and friends to enjoy the state's rivers and mountain lakes, and they strive to make this possible through their business, SS Marine.
With stores in North Salt Lake and Orem, SS Marine is a full-service boating business that stocks everything a boater might need from high-quality boating lines to boating parts and accessories. Its top lines include Four Winns ski boats and cruisers, MB Sports competition wakeboard boats, SmokerCraft fishing boats and SunChaser pontoon boats. This year SS Marine became the No. 1 Four Winns volume dealer in the nation.
SS Marine has been around for more than 25 years. However, it was only eight years ago that a local family purchased the dealership and hired Brad and Dean as sales manager and general manager, respectively. Prior to running the dealership, Brad was a boat owner himself, so he understands boat owners' needs.
Since taking over, Dean says he and Brad have remodeled both stores, expanding one of them. They also started stocking higher-quality boating lines, created brand new signs and improved the service department. SS Marine's service department was recently ranked No. 2 nationally in customer satisfaction by an independent Customer Service Index survey.
Brad tells me SS Marine is distinguished because it's a family business with talented employees who have good values. Some of its customers are third- and fourth-generation buyers, which he says is attributable to both the service and product the stores offer. He and Dean hope to see the dealership continue to grow and become one of largest boat dealers in the state.
