CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say two suspicious packages found at a Chandler school didn't contain any explosives and a device discovered at an apartment complex also was harmless.
Police say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly making threats against the Chief Hill Learning Academy on Tuesday. His name hasn't been released yet.
Another student notified school officials the teen allegedly planned to carry out the threat at 11:25 a.m.
The teen was found at an apartment complex where a possible explosive device was found, leading to a partial evacuation of the complex.
The school was evacuated after police found two suspicious packages on campus including one inside a building.
Police say bomb-detection dogs determined neither package contained explosives.
The academy is an alternative program for junior high and high school students.
