BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho boy was seriously injured Monday afternoon when he was struck by an 18-wheeler.
Boise police say the five-year-old child was riding a bicycle when the truck hit him near the intersection of Cole Road and Fairview Avenue just before 3:30 p.m.
The boy was riding with a five-year-old girl when the collision happened, according to police.
Witnesses say he was pedaling across Fairview Avenue behind the girl when the truck hit him.
The boy was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
The injured child's parents arrived at the scene a short time later, and police say they are with him at the hospital.
Police have closed the road in order to reconstruct the crash.
