WOODS CROSS, Utah — Caide Ramos scored a penalty kick giving Lehi an upset victory over top ranked Brighton 4-3 on penalty kicks.
The two teams were even after two overtimes setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Brighton was the first to stop an attempt in the shootout when Braedon Hickey stopped a Pioneer shot.
Lehi's goalkeeper Taylor Watkins did the same on Brighton's next attempt allowing the Pioneers to pull even.
Brighton's Connor Fordham took a shot in the 4th round of penalty kicks but missed to the right.
That allowed Ramos to step up in the 5th round to bury the game winner.
Brighton was the first to score when Matt Coffey finshed a great pass and chipped it past the keeper for the match's first goal.
It didn't take long for Lehi to equalize. Gui Lemi took a shot from 25 yards that ricocheted off a teammate and over the outstretched arm of Brighton keeper Kolton Savage to tie the match 1-1.
The Bengals would retake the lead in the 28th minute when a ball made it's way into the box and was finished by Porter Criddle giving Brighton a 2-1 lead.
They held that lead until the 73rd minute when a foul was called in the box giving Lehi a penalty kick.
Caide Ramos took the penalty for Lehi and buried the equalizer that would eventually send the match to overtime.
Lehi will face Bingham for the 5A boys soccer state championship Thursday, 7 p.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium.
