OGDEN — Ogden investigators are working to find what caused a fire at an uninhabited triplex early Tuesday.
Neighbors reported a fire at the home, located on Jefferson Street, at about 12:30 a.m. Firefighters from the Ogden City Fire Department and the Roy Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.
The fire was contained in about 20 minutes, according to a release from the Ogden City Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, they reported heavy fire in the basement apartment that had burned through the floor and up into the main story of the building.
There were no tenants living in the apartments, but Sue Wilkerson, the landlord, said she had just finished remodeling and was going to unveil the triplex to clients Tuesday.
"It had historic interiors," she said. "It had all of the original hardwood doors. It had all of the original crown moulding, all of the original brick, a lot of the original glass and some of the windows. It just had some great, cool features."
Damage to the property is estimated at $130,000. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
