SALT LAKE CITY — A wild week that featured several buzzers also featured a handful of upsets that have led to changes in this week's KSL Coaches Poll.
Sky View needs to hold court after a tough loss Friday at Logan while the Mustangs can take control of the Region 5 race with a big road win.Weber at Northridge, Friday 7pm
The Warriors will be looking to get back on track after two tough losses while Northridge hopes to remain perfect in Region 1 before their clash with Davis.Payson at Spanish Fork, Tuesday 7 p.m.
Both teams are undefeated in Region 12. American Fork at Pleasant Grove Tuesday 7pm
After both getting humbled by Lone Peak last week the winner of this game will have the inside track on the No. 2 seed in Region 4. Desert Hills at Cedar Wednesday 7pm
Cedar took the first meeting and is all alone in first place in Region 9. Sweeping the Thunder would be a huge statement.
Cleveringa scored 54 points in a loss to Pleasant Grove in a classic four overtime thriller. He was just four points short of the state record for points in a game held by Lynn Parsons of South Sevier.Shad Watson, Box Elder
Watson scored 34 points and sunk eight 3-pointers in a 75-45 win over Bonneville. Max Schriener, Springville
Schriener scored a game-high 28 points leading the Red Devils to an important region win over Provo. Jake Miles, Morgan
Miles continues to light up the scoreboard pouring in 38 points in a 76-59 win over Ogden.Dakota Shepherd, North Sevier
Shepherd scored 33 points helping North Sevier defeat American Leadership Academy 70-62.
Many believed defending champion Orem would be as tough to beat as Lone Peak is in 5A. Timpview proved that it could be done last Tuesday. Leo Roese made a shot at the buzzer to take down 4A's number one team 52-50. With the win Timpview is now ranked No. 1 in 4A. Orem is now 2nd followed by Bountiful who has won 11 straight games including a 74-50 win over East last Tuesday.
Springville is now ranked 4th followed by Sky View who drops down from No. 2 after suffering a buzzer beating loss to Logan on Friday.
Morgan is now ranked No. 1 in 3A. The Trojans have won nine games in a row including wins this week over Logan and Ogden. Cedar moves up to No. 2 and is currently the only undefeated team in Region 9, considered the deepest region in 3A. Judge falls from No. 1 to No. 3 after suffering their first region defeat at Union, 68-61 in overtime. Spanish Fork moves up to No. 3 followed by Bear River.
Lone Peak is No. 1 in 5A after crushing rivals Pleasant Grove and American Fork. They also impressed a national audience on Monday in the Hoop Hall classic in Springfield, Massachusetts. Conner Toolson led the Knights with 22 points, 6-6 shooting from three and was named the game MVP in an 81-46 win over Archbishop Mitty, Ca. The team from California featured one of the top prospects in the country Aaron Gordon and was shown live on ESPN U. Davis completed an impressive week knocking off Weber at home Tuesday before taking care of Layton on Friday. The Darts move up to No. 2 in the latest 5A poll followed by Brighton who defeated 4th ranked Jordan 73-56 in an important Region 3 matchup. The Beetdiggers bounced back Friday defeating Alta 68-57 in overtime. Weber not only fell to Davis but was also upset by Syracuse on another last second shot. The Warriors drop from No. 2 to No. 5 this week.
Wasatch Academy is still No. 1 in 2A followed by South Sevier, Emery, Gunnison and Richfield.
Panguitch is No. 1 in 1A followed by Bryce Valley, Monticello, Layton Christian and Rich who upset Duchesne last week.
