OREM — A wanted Idaho man is back in the legal system after Orem police asked him to show up to get rid of some spiders.
Orem police say they got a call from Idaho police about Jake Burtenshaw, wanted for selling an imitation controlled substance — which could be a number of things, including fake or synthetic drugs — and they thought he was living in Orem. But Orem Sgt. Craig Martinez said when cops went to the house, the man wasn't there.
Cops later found out Burtenshaw worked for a pest control company, so they made an appointment for him to spray spiders.
The suspect was on his way to the fake job when cops picked him up. And even after going to jail and bailing out, he didn't realize what had happened. Burtenshaw later texted the officer saying he hadn't made the appointment because something had come up.
