This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

In Utah we take emergency preparedness seriously. We're dedicated to being ready for life's unexpected events, including earthquakes, especially with the fault line right in Salt Lake City. CoreBrace in West Jordan is helping buildings in Utah and around the world be more earthquake safe.

Company president Dieter Klohn (clone) says this West Jordan company provides braces for buildings that are designed to act like a fuse and absorb the seismic energy through steel yielding because the brace doesn't buckle. Instead of crumpling to the ground, the building façade stays intact during earthquakes so property and lives can be saved, not to mention valuable building dollars. Another benefit of using the buckling restraint braces is a reduction of steel quantities used in the overall structure.

These braces can be added during new construction or to an existing building. CoreBrace recently installed them just seven years ago for the Marriott Library on the U of U campus. CoreBrace products are economical, and they will save lives.

Word of what CoreBrace has to offer is getting out, and this 10-year-old company is taking off. You can find large quantities of their braces in Portland, San Francisco and many other U.S. cities. Their braces are even being used in the brand San Francisco 49ers stadium now under construction. Locally, their braces were used for the 222 S. Main building in downtown Salt Lake City.

CoreBrace also has a solid international presence with projects in Haiti, Mexico and Russia and within the next couple years, they'll be entering Ireland, Israel, Chile, New Zealand and Turkey. They recently attended a trade show in Chile and are in talks with the largest construction engineering firm in Chile. It's no wonder they've grown 300 percent in the last two years.

If you'd like to find out more about how to build your company's global presence, you can attend the eleventh annual Zions Bank Trade and Business Conference on May 23. For more information or to register, visit zionsbank.com/conference.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
