EVANSTON, Wyo. — More than 200 pounds of marijuana that likely traveled through Utah was seized outside Evanston, Wyo.
Wyoming Highway Patrol pulled over a trailer that was hauling automobiles on I-80 east of Evanston Tuesday morning for a traffic stop. According to a news release, a trooper inspection found the trailer was carrying one vehicle it was not authorized to carry and the driver had falsified his log book.
Troopers searched the vehicles on the trailer and found approximately 139 pounds of high grade marijuana in the trunk of one and more than 102 pounds in the trunk of another. The street value of the marijuana is estimated to be nearly $1.7 million. It is believed to have originated in California and was headed for the Detroit area.
The driver, Hazem Izzat, 50, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, the news release states.
