(KSL News) Students at Willow Springs Elementary rode their bikes with a true professional today.

Utah cyclist Dave Zabriskie visited the kids to encourage them to ride bikes and teach them about doing it safely.

It's something Zabriskie cares for personally. He was run over in 2003 while riding in Mill Creek Canyon. "There's a lot of life on the road out there, and I would encourage people to slow down and yield to the life on the road," Zabriskie said.

Zabriskie is the current USA time trial champion and he's a Tour de France stage winner, one of three Americans to ever wear the coveted yellow jersey.

He is a Salt Lake native and is in town this week to participate in the "Yield to Live" campaign.
