Jazz Announce 2007 Training Camp Roster

SALT LAKE CITY (September 28, 2007) - Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor today announced the team's 2007 training camp roster. The 17-man roster includes: guards Morris Almond, Ronnie Brewer, Gordan Giricek, Jason Hart, Ronnie Price and Deron Williams; forwards Carlos Boozer, Damone Brown, Matt Harpring, Donnell Harvey, Andrei Kirilenko, Kevin Lyde and Paul Millsap; and centers Jarron Collins, Kyrylo Fesenko and Mehmet Okur. Guard C.J. Miles is a restricted free-agent.

Almond, Fesenko, Hart and Price are each entering their first season with the Jazz. Selected with the 25th pick in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft, Almond was named 2007 Conference USA Player of the Year as a senior at Rice after setting single-season conference records for points averaged (26.4 ppg), points scored (844), and free throws made (241). A native of the Ukraine, Fesenko's draft rights were acquired by the Jazz (selected 38th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft) from Philadelphia in a draft night deal. Last season Fesenko averaged 6.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots in 18.5 minutes a contest for Cherkaski Mavpi of the Ukrainian SuperLeague. Hart split time between the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Clippers in 2006-07, appearing in a combined total of 36 games and averaging 6.9 points, 2.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.22 steals in 23.6 minutes. With the Clippers, he appeared in 23 games (22 starts) and posted 9.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.78 steals. Price signed with the Jazz as a free agent after the former Utah Valley State product appeared in 87 games over two seasons with Sacramento, averaging 2.9 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.7 assists in 8.2 minutes per game.

Brown, Harvey and Lyde are each trying to make the Jazz team after playing in leagues other the NBA last season. Brown, a four-year NBA veteran, spent the 2006-07 season with OSG Phoenix of the Japanese SuperLeague before joining the NBA Development League's Sioux Falls Skyforce. In 25 games (all starts) Brown averaged 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. His most recent NBA action was with the Washington Wizards in 2004-05, where he averaged 3.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 14 games. He also appeared in seven preseason contests with the Indiana Pacers in 2005-06. Harvey, a five-year NBA veteran, enters camp after spending last season playing in Turkey for Besiktas ColaTurka Instanbul, where he averaged 14.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals. He last played in the NBA for the New Jersey Nets in 2004-05, averaging 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in three games. Lyde, entering his first NBA season, returns to Utah after playing for the Jazz entry in the 2007 Rocky Mountain Revue. In 2006-07 he appeared in 45 games (37 starts) with the NBA Development League's Dakota Wizards, averaging 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Lyde also helped lead the team to the Eastern Division title and the D-League Championship.

The Jazz will hold Media Day on Monday, October 1 at noon at the Zions Bank Basketball Center. The team will then depart for training camp in Boise, Idaho, that afternoon. The Jazz open the 2007 preseason at home vs. the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, October 10. The regular season tips off at Golden State on October 30.
