(KSL News) Coming in August, any and all Utah students entering seventh grade will be required to have an updated booster dose of tetanus and diphtheria.
And, the Salt Lake Valley Health Department also wants kids to get the new tetanus booster, Tdap, which offers additional protection against whooping cough.
Why? The Salt Lake Valley has seen an outbreak of whooping cough at local schools.
In the past three years, health officials have seen an increase of 400 percent.
