SALT LAKE CITY — A national grant will help create a publicly available interpretative map of the Jordan River Parkway's trailheads, parking areas and amenities.
The Jordan River Commission and Salt Lake County announced receipt of the grant from the National Park Service's River and Trails Conservation Assistance program. The grant is a result of the parkway being listed in America's Great Outdoors Fifty-State Report released in October, which identifies two projects from each state representing the most sound investments for connecting the public to the outdoors.
Officials say the map will be available in both printed and online formats. The printed version will be available free of charge at local government offices and ultimately at local businesses and other destinations.
"For many people, lack of information about the Jordan River Parkway has been a barrier to its use," said Laura Hanson, executive director of the Jordan River Commission. "We believe this trail map will expand access to the parkway and that the map’s interpretive elements will encourage folks to learn more about the Jordan River.”
