MURRAY -- Murray police are searching for a gunman who tried to rob a Wendy's restaurant in Murray early Tuesday morning.

Police say a man wearing a ski mask walked up to the closed restaurant on State Street around 1 a.m. and knocked on the drive-through window. When workers walked toward the window, the man pointed what appeared to be a gun at them and demanded they unlock the restaurant doors.

Instead, the workers ducked behind the counters and called police. The gunman tried opening the restaurant doors but fled when he realized they were locked.

Lt. Mike Fernandez of the Murray City Police Department said the employees did the right thing.

"They didn't challenge the guy. They didn't argue with him. They just ducked down, kept out of sight and called police. So, in that sense it was a very smart thing for them to do."

Police are still looking for a suspect who employees described as five feet seven inches to six feet tall, wearing a ski mask and gloves.
