Alex Cabrero ReportingThere's a lot of wind out there today. Conditions are perfect to fly a kite, or in some cases, go snow-kiting.

There's snowboarding, wake boarding, kite-boarding, and now snow-kiting. Confusing? For some, but for those into snow-kiting, there's no way you can mistake it from the other extreme sports.

Snow-kiters Love Adrenaline of the Sport

If learning a sport on the edge of crazy is your thing, then boy does Brian Schenk have something for you.

Brian Schenk, Snow-kiter: "It's just fun. I mean, every minute you're out riding, you're having a good time."

Yeah, it sure looks like fun, even though with something like this there's doubt it can be a little scary the first few times.

Kody Hoover; "I just thought it looked pretty cool."

Kody Hoover is one of those brand new to the sport of snow-kiting and figured, what better place to learn than at this big event up Fairview Canyon in Sanpete County?

Kody Hoover: "All you need is a harness and a kite and you can get started."

The hardest part is setting it all up, but once you're able to get that kite in the air, it is nothing but fun."

Brian Schenck: "Some people compare it to windsurfing."

And why not, the basic principles are the same. It's all about wind power, hooking yourself to a kite and letting the wind take you away.

This spot just outside of Fairview is becoming known as one of the best snow-kiting spots in North America.

Brian Schenk: "The best experience I can describe was on this hill behind us, carving a turn, upslope, 30 miles per hour where my edge was facing up hill. Felt wrong, but felt so good at the same time."

Now if being pulled across the snow by a kite looks like fun to you and you'd like to give it a try, they'll be out there again tomorrow morning. Just head into Fairview and ask for directions to Skyline Drive, you can't miss them.
