AMERICAN FORK -- Police in Utah County have arrested a man they say led them on a high-speed car chase on I-15 Thursday night.
The chase started in Riverton when Unified police officers attempted to pull over the driver for reckless driving. The man led officers southbound on I-15, where Unified police dropped off the chase.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers and Utah County officers continued to pursue the suspect until he stopped in American Fork.
Officers said he jumped out of the car near the American Fork exit before fleeing on foot. The car the suspect was driving struck another vehicle, but officers said no one was injured.
Officers found him hiding in a nearby canal after an hour of searching. They arrested Sifou Sua and took him to a local hospital to be treated for hypothermia before being booked into jail on several felony charges.
Traffic was backed up for several miles in the southbound lanes on I-15.
